Weekend Locks!
My "Can't-Miss" recommendations for this weekend (Nov 9-10)
Well, I can honestly say I’ve never done a weekend forecast in November with forecasted highs in the upper 80s and a tropical storm in the Gulf. But I’ve got a spot far enough inland where it won’t be affected by any of the high water forecasted for Borgne and Pontchartrain
Poole’s Bluff is on fire right now as the bass are pounding the shad during the morning hours.
If you're familiar with fishing, Lock One in Pearl River, it’s very similar but Poole’s Bluff has good water movement being that it’s nock “locked out” of the Pearl River like the rest of the Pearl River Navigational Canal is.
Launch at the end of Poole’s Bluff Rd. off of Hwy 21 in Sun, and head north. This is a bank beater’s dream as you can pound the shoreline all morning.
Anglers have been catching decent size fish so a 3-4 pounder may be in the cards this weekend.
Throw loud, obnoxious buzz-baits like the one Prototype Lures makes. Cast all the way to the shoreline and make sure to reel the lure all the way back to the boat as some bass have been following it and striking before it gets to the boat.
If you miss a blowup on the buzz, grab change-up rod with a sinking bait.
I’ve got a report that a wacky rigged Mister Twister Comida stick bait has been working well on the change-up.
It’s tough to pick a “Lock” when there’s so much unpredictable weather this weekend, but here goes! This weekend your best bet is going to be Seabrook!
This past week, Seabrook has been on fire and is fishing reminiscent to 15 years ago.
While the reports this fall have been of small trout, Seabrook has been spitting out mules.
There should be no change in the pattern as this tropical system will only push better water into the area.
The high water won’t matter when your bait’s on the bottom, but it may make launching difficult so be cautious.
High tide is at 7 a.m. which will make putting in a task, but if you can get out there you’ll be looking at a falling tide all morning.
A drop-shot rig on the bottom with live shrimp has been the ticket this past week and should put big trout in the boat this weekend.
As always, I welcome feedback from you, especially if you disagree with my picks. Simply reply to this email and I will get back to you ASAP. Thanks!
